One person is dead after a collision involving a fatal shooting, Fort Myers police say

One person has died following a collision involving a shooting, Fort Myers police announced Sunday evening.

On Sunday around 8:30 p.m., Fort Myers police said the incident blocked two westbound lanes of Colonial Boulevard at Ortiz Avenue.

Police said it is an isolated incident and encourage witnesses to contact them at 239-321-7700 or SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).

Officer Kristin Capuzzi, spokesperson for the Fort Myers Police Department, confirmed it was the city’s seventh homicide this year.
