West Yorkshire Police said the pursuit was authorized after the driver of the Toyota failed to stop for officers on the M621 as the car headed towards the M62 at Birstall.
The Toyota was stolen from New York Street in Leeds on Friday, officers said.
The West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said the Independent Office for Police Conduct had been notified, which is standard procedure for such an incident.
