Huma Qureshi has left an indelible mark on the audience with her impressive on-screen performances. Despite being in the industry for over a decade and working on a number of projects, the 38-year-old actress is still best known for her debut role in Anurag Kashyap’s film Gangs of Wasseypur. Though she had short scenes in the film, her impactful acting left a mark in the minds of the audience.

Recently, Huma sat for an interview with Mashable India and recalled a meeting with famed director David Dhawan soon after the release of Gangs of Wasseypur. The actress said that the director was kind enough to give her some advice. Recalling the moment, she said, “Just after Gangs of Wasseypur, I bumped into David Dhawan at a coffee shop. I thought, ‘Wow, David Dhawan!’ and he walked towards me, and he didn’t have to do that.”

Huma continued, “He said, ‘Beta, you’re a very good actor. Tereko bohot log bolenge weight loss karle, operation karle, kuch nahi karna (People will ask you to lose weight, to get operations done, but don’t do anything).” The actress said that David Dhawan emphasized that the public had accepted her as That she was too, and nothing needed to change. The director advised her to just keep ‘entertaining’ the audience.

David Dhawan’s words left a deep impression on the mind of the Badlapur actress, who said in the same conversation that she wanted to remember his advice forever. “I thought, ‘That’s really good advice.’ And that comes from seniors in the industry, when they randomly meet you and give you this advice, just write it down, ‘Yeh bhoolna nahi hai (you shouldn’t forget)’, she shared.

In addition to sharing this anecdote, Huma also shared her views on body toxicity. The actress said the “problem” in the country is that no one is happy with the way they look. Sharing the theory that most people believe that ‘grass is greener on the other side’, Huma said: ‘If you want to get your nose fixed, you will break your chin and so on. Just let people be. No one is supposed to look perfect,” and playfully added that many were already “apprehending” her. Therefore, she is not interested in becoming more “perfect” because that would mean “the end of the world.”

Talking about her work, the actress was last seen in the biopic Tarla, based on the life of Indian chef Tarla Dalal. She will next be seen in Jolly LLB 3.
