KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – OCTOBER 10: Patrick Mahomes #15 and Travis Kelce #87 of the Kansas City Chiefs celebrate after the Chiefs defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 30-29 to win the game at Arrowhead Stadium on October 10, 2022 in Kansas City win, Missouri.
LOS ANGELES – Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce recently had their homes burglarized within days of each other, according to law enforcement reports. The incidents occurred around the time of the Chiefs’ Oct. 7 game against the New Orleans Saints, as first reported by TMZ. Both cases are still under investigation and no injuries have been reported.
According to police, the first burglary occurred on October 6 at Mahomes’ home, located in a gated community in Cass County, Missouri, south of Kansas City. The one-page sheriff’s report obtained by the Associated Press does not name Mahomes but shows a call made just after midnight to report a burglary. Mahomes, speaking to the media on Wednesday, expressed his frustration with the incident, saying, “It’s obviously frustrating and disappointing,” noting that he could not provide additional details due to the ongoing investigation.
The second incident reportedly occurred on the evening of October 7, while the Chiefs were playing the Saints at Arrowhead Stadium. This time, the burglary occurred at a home matching Kelce’s address in the affluent Kansas suburb of Leawood. Police reports indicate that approximately $20,000 in cash was taken and the back door was damaged. The crime was not reported until early the next morning.
What was stolen in the burglaries?
Although Mahomes has not publicly commented on missing items, the report on Kelce’s belongings states that approximately $20,000 in cash was stolen. In addition, a back door to his 16,000-square-foot home, which includes a wine cellar, swimming pool and garage, was damaged.
Are the authorities investigating the incidents?
Both incidents are currently under active investigation and authorities have not announced any suspects or arrests. Cass County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Ronnie Lozano confirmed the investigation but declined to provide further details. Similarly, Leawood Police Capt. Jason Ahring stated that the department does not comment on specific crime victims unless they are fatalities or homicides.
What’s next in the investigation?
Authorities are expected to continue gathering information on both incidents. In the meantime, Mahomes and Kelce, who were away from home during the burglaries, have returned to focusing on the season as their cases develop.
