He wore a “Darth Vader cape” and launched about 50 fireworks amid scenes of carnage in the Aston neighbourhood.

Footage shows revelers running for cover as a shower of sparks erupts from the makeshift launcher.

The man appeared to be wielding the launcher indiscriminately, aiming it in all directions.

A local said: “Idiots. Where do you even get a firecracker rocket launcher. He’s even dressed like Darth Vader.”

Another Brummie said: ‘These fireworks wars happen every year now.

“They’re trying to outdo each other – someone will end up seriously injured or killed.”

Post on social mediasaid a third resident: “Birmingham is Britain’s Gotham.”

Three teenage men aged 17, 18 and 19 have been arrested in Birmingham Bonfire night chaos.

Another man was arrested Halloween night on suspicion of selling fireworks with an expired storage permit in the back of his van.

West Midlands Police said: “We have made arrests and seized illegal fireworks following further disorder in Birmingham city centre.

“Groups set off fireworks in the streets and from buildings, some targeting police officers and police vehicles.

“Officers were stationed around Bagot Street and Staniforth Street and a dispersal order was put in place.

‘We tolerate such appalling behavior which we know is frightening to people and puts them at risk of harm.

‘We have an investigation team looking at the footage and we will seek to prosecute all those involved.

“We will continue to carry out a tough, targeted policing operation today and in the coming days to keep our communities safe.”

NIGHT OF BATTLE

It came amid chaos across Britain with boys hurling fireworks at riot police in Edinburgh, Manchester and Glasgow.

A bizarre scene from Edinburgh showed a boy putting fireworks in his mouth.

He uses his jaw to point it at the sky as an audience member shouts, “Keep going.”

But suddenly a huge shower of sparks erupts in the man’s face.

The exploding fireworks fly from the man’s mouth into the ground – while the spectators scream.

His condition is currently unknown and local emergency services have been contacted for comment.

Firefighters received thousands of calls last night amid carnage in a string of British cities.

A police helicopter landed on an Edinburgh estate after youths shot off fireworks at motorbikes and set fire to bins.

And in Manchester, shocking footage showed thugs erecting barricades from mattresses and pallets during clashes with police.

Young people in the city started an illegal bonfire with garbage and a motorcycle, set fire to a car and threw fireworks at the emergency services.

Three teenage men, aged between 16 and 18, have been arrested on suspicion of causing violent disorder.

They remain in custody for questioning, and further arrests will follow.

In a social media post, a local resident said: “It looks like a full-scale war zone down there.”

In Edinburgh, riot police and the police helicopter landed on a residential area after youths caused more Bonfire Night chaos.

Officers carrying shields and batons faced off with gangs in Niddrie who fired fireworks at motorbikes and set fire to bins.

Our images at the scene showed riot police chasing dozens of young people.

There was also a tense standoff in which one person was pinned to the ground by officers preventing people from passing at a flashpoint.

Some innocent bystanders also became involved in the chaos as thugs threw stones at police and set fire to more garbage bins.

Young people gather around burning bins smoldering in the middle of the road, while others film the chaotic scenes from their smartphones.

Helmet-wearing officers form a line along the street before rushing toward the group.

Dozens of yobs are then chained up by officers before being herded away from the remains of the smoking bins.

Police backed up in their vans when youths began throwing fireworks in their direction.

Then they turned their vans around.

As the police left, a member of the public was heard shouting: “They won’t throw them now – the police are gone.”

But their barrage continued and they then started throwing fireworks in the direction of the crowd.

The roads were first closed around 6.45pm after fireworks were thrown in the direction of vehicles.

One pyro was seen flying onto Niddrie Mains Road and there was a flash before smoke rose from the tarmac.

Moments later, police began directing traffic away from the incident scene.

A police helicopter shined its spotlight on the area.

The public was advised to avoid the area where the trouble broke out.

Fireworks could be seen and heard exploding in the distance.

Elsewhere, rockets were thrown at riot police who had gathered in the Gilmerton and Sighthill areas of Edinburgh.

Ian Murray, MP for Edinburgh, described the scenes as “disgraceful and unacceptable” amid further disorder in the city’s Moredun and Gracemount areas.

Gracemount Drive was closed as police diverted traffic from the area.

Later in the evening, a police helicopter flew over the area with reports of tense scenes between riot police and gangs.

The Guy Fawkes disorder comes just days after Halloween fireworks in the same community.

Last weekend, Chief Inspector David Robertson said police will “leave no stone unturned” to find those responsible for fireworks-related violence in Niddrie and elsewhere on Halloween.

Groups of young people targeted police vehicles with fireworks and other projectiles last Thursday evening amid numerous reports of anti-social behaviour.

One female officer was injured when the window of the vehicle she was in was shattered by a rock. Local buses were also pelted with projectiles, police said.

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and charged in connection with alleged fireworks violations.
