Turning 30 with dating apps

A.

I wish I had a magic answer for finding the best needles in haystacks. There are countless of people in apps. Only some will be right for you.

You can try platforms that limit your options. An app like Coffee Meets Bagel offers its own formula for this fewer matches, but hopefully better ones. eharmony has always tried to attract users who are willing to put in more effort.

I can’t say if any of these apps are better than the next. I do think there is a bit of luck involved. All I know is that some platforms are more attractive to some than others. If you don’t have success with one of them, try another.

Also consider adding a step between messages and a date. A FaceTime works. Anything that lets you see who someone is – and how he or she laughs and sounds – before you even reach that mall. I think it’s a time saver. You can learn a lot about someone from a five-minute conversation.

Ask friends outside the app for settings. Let those friends also read your profile and take notes. You may not be clear enough about what you are looking for.
