A man arrested Sunday in north Belleville for shoplifting was arrested less than 24 hours later for the same crime.

Belleville Police responded to a business on Bell Blvd Monday afternoon, where staff reported a shoplifter they knew from previous incidents.

The man had fled on a bicycle.

Police found the suspect on North Front Street and realized he had been arrested at another store Sunday evening and charged with the same crime.

Malachi Warner, aged 20 and of no fixed address, was charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of probation.

He was held for a bail hearing.
