Warriors projected to trade $24.9 million to 76ers for draft assets

Warriors projected to trade .9 million to 76ers for draft assets

The Philadelphia 76ers are starting to enter dangerous territory in terms of making the playoffs.

Philadelphia is now 2-10 on the season, and although Joel Embiid has returned for the last two games, Embiid is looking remarkably out of shape.

Paul George hasn’t looked quite like himself as he claws his way back to midseason form. George is averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game through six games, but Philadelphia will need him to produce more, especially with Tyrese Maxey missing time.

The 76ers thank their lucky stars that rookie Jared McCain has burst onto the scene as a top candidate for Rookie of the Year, averaging 14.8 points per game and shooting 40.3 percent from three. Without McCain, Philly would have virtually nothing to smile about.

Looking ahead to the February trade deadline, everyone is assuming that 76ers GM Daryl Morey will be among the most active buyers on the market.

A new report Cal Durrett of Hoops Habit claimed on Sunday that Morey could go after Jonathan Kuminga of the Golden State Warriors. Kuminga is in the final year of his $24.9 million rookie deal and promises to be sought after by teams like the LA Clippers And Brooklyn Nets.

“With Embiid’s health up in the air and the Sixers losing ground to the red-hot Cleveland Cavaliers and stacked Boston Celtics, they are reportedly looking to make a big deal to try to keep pace,” Durrett said.

“Unlike many other playoff teams, the Sixers actually have a lot of trade assets after the James Harden deal gave them two first-round picks, a first-round pick and a second-round pick.”

“The Sixers also have most of their own rosters, which would help them make a big trade in the season. While they don’t have much of a replaceable salary, they could sign Kenyon Martin Jr. and could package another player to acquire a key player who can help them this season. One of those options could be Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, with whom they have already been linked.”

Is Kuminga the man who can help keep things going in Philadelphia?
