The iconic band Queen has no plans to bite the dust anytime soon. Contrary! The band may be closer to releasing new material than you think.
Drummer Roger Taylor suggested the possibility of creating new music in an interview with the band Uncut. It would be the band’s first album in 30 years. Queen originally released their fifteenth and final studio album, Made In Heaven, in 1995, following the death of frontman Freddy Mercury in 1991.
“I think we could,” he added: “Brian (May) and I were talking the other day and we both said if we feel like we have good material, why not? We can still play. We can still sing. So I don’t see why not.”
Queen resumed performing with Paul Rodgers in 2004, before Adam Lambert took over vocal duties in 2011.
It was last year, during approx interview for American radioguitarist Brian May said the band “had fun” creating new music with Lambert.
“You just haven’t heard anything about it,” May said. “It would have to be something so special that we felt like we wanted to release it publicly.”
Lambert then added his thoughts, considering how difficult it would be to release new music alongside Queen’s legacy.
“It’s a lot of pressure if you think about it,” Lambert said. “If they’re going to release something new, it has to be at a certain level. This has to be the right thing. I always asked myself: “Is it appropriate to make new material?” I feel like it scares me.”
In 2022, Queen released the outdoor track “Face It Alone” featuring vocals by Mercury. The song was originally recorded during the sessions for the band’s 1989 album The Miracle.“
