Russian troops attack 138 times, losing more than 1,000

Russian troops lost 1,080 troops in 138 attacks along the front line on Thursday, January 2. Armed Forces reported on a Friday war summary.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, most of the attacks took place in the Kurakhove, Pokrovsk, Lyman and Vremivka sectors of Ukraine. There were also attacks in Russia’s Kursk region, where Ukrainian troops are taking up positions.

The majority of attacks (38) occurred in the Pokrovsk sector, followed by Kurakhove (27), Vremivka (24), Lyman (16) and the Kursk region (10).

Russian forces carried out more than 3,800 artillery strikes, including more than 150 using multiple rocket systems (MLRS), and launched more than 150 air strikes, including guided aerial bombs.

According to the General Staff, in addition to human losses, the Russian army lost 14 armored vehicles, three artillery systems, one MLRS system, 49 drones and 41 trucks.

The General Staff reported that the advance of Russian troops towards Pokrovsk has slowed, but the Russian army continues to move forward south of Pokrovsk and in the Zaporizhia region.
