Airline passengers are asking if travelers can get whole cans of soda instead of just a cup

One traveler took to social media to ask if passengers could request an entire can of soda instead of just a small cup filled with the fizzy drink.

Posted on the “r/delta” forum, the user said: “I was once told by an FA (flight attendant) on a plane that you can ask for ‘a can of soda’ instead of just the cup they give you usually give. ”

The user also wrote: “On a recent flight, the flight attendant said no. (He was NOT a nice FA. I was honestly surprised.)”

“Then on another flight after that the guy said, ‘Oh, you’re going to be that guy, aren’t you?’ It was all lighthearted and we laughed, and I wasn’t offended in any way… (He handed me the can.)”

The user asked fellow Redditors if it was “annoying” to ask flight attendants for the entire can.

“I always ask for the whole can when I get mixed drinks on the plane and no one has ever said no,” said one user.

Another added: “I think it really depends on how many cans they have and how likely they are to run out of soft drinks.”

A user claiming to be a flight attendant said: ‘Most of the time it’s not a problem, but sometimes, if 2 or 3 people ask for a can in a row (and) we’re not even 20% done with the service, I’ll Politely decline it and say that when I have enough I will return the can later.”

“Who cares if it’s annoying? It’s not an unreasonable request considering the prices we pay. And if they don’t have it, they don’t have it,” said one traveler.

One user suggested: “I’ve always said, ‘I don’t need the cup.’”

“Bottled water usually gets a ‘no,’” said one Redditor.

Another added: ‘If it’s a regional jet the flight attendant only works in the back with a small half cart and very limited supplies. Definitely not full cans then.”

Delta’s website does not specify how drinks will be served under “Onboard Dining.”

“From our signature Biscoff cookies to special-order meals, we’ll provide refreshing refreshments onboard with the food and drinks you love,” the site says.
