NEW YORK (Reuters): Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations on Monday issued what he called a final warning to Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi fighters to halt their rocket attacks on Israel, saying they face the same “miserable fate” risks such as Hamas, Hezbollah and Israel. The ambassador, Danny Danon, also warned Tehran that Israel has the ability to attack any target in the Middle East, including Iran. He added that Israel would not tolerate attacks from Iranian allies.
But hours later, the Israeli military announced it had intercepted a rocket fired from Yemen, setting off sirens across the country, and a top Houthi leader said the group would not end its attacks on Israel.
“The bashing of the entity (Israel) continues and the support for Gaza continues,” Mohamed Ali al-Houthi, the head of the Houthis’ Supreme Revolutionary Committee, said in a post on the missiles had announced.
The Houthis have repeatedly fired drones and rockets at Israel in what they describe as acts of solidarity with Palestinians under Israeli fire in Gaza.
Danon said in his address to the UN Security Council that Israel would not tolerate further Houthi attacks.

Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the Houthis that Israel was “just getting started” after Israeli strikes on multiple Houthi-linked targets in Yemen, including Sanaa airport, ports on the country’s west coast and two power plants.
The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said he was about to board a plane at the airport when it was attacked by Israel. A crew member on the plane was injured, he said.
Israel’s elimination of the top leaders of Palestinian Hamas and Lebanese Hezbollah and the destruction of their military structure, along with Assad’s collapse, represent a succession of monumental victories for Netanyahu.
At the Security Council meeting, Khaled Khiari, UN Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East, reiterated his grave concern over the escalation of violence, calling on the Houthis to stop attacks on Israel and to respect humanitarian law.
“Further military escalation could jeopardize regional stability with negative political, security, economic and humanitarian consequences,” Khiari said.
“Millions of people in Yemen, Israel and the entire region would continue to bear the brunt of the endless escalation.”
Russia’s Ambassador to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, while condemning the Houthi missile attacks on Israel, also criticized Israel’s retaliatory strikes on Yemen, as well as those of what he called the “Anglo-Saxon coalition” of American and British warships in the Red Sea. they were “clearly disproportionate”.
