Anthony Edwards’ swear jar is getting pretty full.

The Timberwolves guard was fined $100,000 for his use of profanity during an on-court television interview Friday in Houston. The guard used a number of swear words while breaking down the Timberwolves’ dramatic come-from-behind victory.

It is the second time that Edwards has received such a fine from the NBA. The first came weeks ago after a similar violation. That was for $75,000. Edwards’ is a frequent offender when it comes to profanity-laced public comments, but the league appears to have specific problems with the use of such language on television.

The more the same things keep happening, the heavier the good numbers we can get. After the first fine, Edwards abstained from media activities for more than a week.

Delay

The start time for Sunday’s Timberwolves home game against the Spurs was pushed back an hour to 8:10 p.m. due to a glitch in the team’s “City Edition” floor that was discovered earlier on Sunday. Arena staffers quickly took action, removing the City Edition floor and putting the team’s standard court back in place.

This is the second time in three seasons that Minnesota has had an issue with the City Edition floor. The debut of their special court was postponed for weeks in 2022 after an imperfection was discovered then too.

Trading game

Former Timberwolves guard D’Angelo Russell was transferred from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday in a deal that brought two-way wing Dorian Finney-Smith to Los Angeles. What was notable about that deal was that the Lakers had to send three second-round picks to Brooklyn to complete the trade. It’s a twist when you consider that the 2022 Minnesota trade sent Russell to the Lakers in a three-team trade that brought Mike Conley and Nickeil Alexander-Walker to Minnesota.

The Timberwolves received multiple second-round picks in that deal, which still looks like a home run for Minnesota.
