John Foster of the Mentor Public Library will examine one of the most famous and pivotal episodes of World War II – the sinking of the Bismarck – during a free lecture on January 13 at 6:30 PM at the library’s main branch, 8215 Mentor Ave.
Foster will explain both the danger the Bismarck posed and the deadly cat-and-mouse game that preceded its sinking, according to a news release.
The program is open to everyone, but registration is required due to limited space. Sign in to www.mentorpl.org or by calling the library at 440-255-8811, ext. 1.
In addition to being a reference librarian, Foster has a doctorate in history and has taught history at both the high school and college levels, the release said. He previously led series at the library on the battles of World War II, the American Revolution, the Cold War, the Vietnam War and the American presidents of the 20th century.
