Former WWE executive Linda McMohan has questionable credibility as Minister of Education.
The appointment of Linda McMahon as education secretary by newly elected President Donald Trump added to the list of shocking candidates Trump chose after Matt Gaetz and Pete Hegeseth. The 76-year-old McMahon worked as president and CEO of WWE from 1980 to 2009 with her ex-husband Vince McMahon. Social media users questioned her credibility as leader of the education department because she had little to no experience in education. She was also accused of covering up sex trafficking allegations against her former husband.
Did Linda lie about her diploma?
Viral posts on social media claimed that Linda McMahon has no college degree and married Vince right after high school. They married when Linda was 17 and Vince was 21. According to reports, Linda enrolled at East Carolina University in 1966, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in French and received a teaching certificate.
But reports claimed that Linda previously said her degree was in education, which was wrong.
However, the former wrestling director has no educational background or professional experience in education policy. Her association with education was serving on a State Board of Education in 2009-2010 and serving as a college trustee for many years.
“The only experience she (Linda) has in ED is that she went to school and sent her kids there over fifty years ago,” one user wrote.
“So Linda McMahon studied small business in college and her job now is to run the Department of Education,” wrote another.
“She doesn’t even have a master’s degree and hasn’t been to an educational institution since the 1960s. But let’s definitely give her the keys to the future of education in our country,” someone wrote.
“What?? Linda McMahon has a BA in French and a teaching certificate? I don’t think that’s enough to qualify for that position, but what do I know? These rich people bought their way in” , says a message read.
