Sean “Diddy” Combs is accused of breaking prison rules by contacting potential witnesses before him Sex trafficking trial. Prosecutors involved in the case also alleged that the music mogul orchestrated social media campaigns aimed at corrupting the jury pool and attempted to publicly leak material that could be helpful to his case.

“The defendant has repeatedly demonstrated – even while in custody – that he will blatantly and repeatedly disregard rules to improperly influence the outcome of his case. In other words, the defendant has demonstrated that he cannot be relied upon to adhere to any rules or conditions,” prosecutors wrote in a lawsuit challenging his $50 million bail proposal.

They suggested that the musician wanted to blackmail ‘victims and witnesses’ into silence or into providing useful testimony. A review of recorded jail calls showed that Combs asked his family to contact potential victims and witnesses in an effort to create “stories” that could sway the jury.

Meanwhile, lawyers representing the musician have accused prosecutors of “outrageous government behavior” and claim they are using materials seized from his cell to try to keep him jailed. Personal belongings and paperwork were seized during a raid on the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, allegedly containing confidential information.

Prosecutors dismissed the claim, telling Judge Arun Subramanian that the inspection was part of an unrelated security-related inspection across the prison. They say the search was conducted by an investigator who entered Combs’ cell and decided not to examine a manila envelope marked “legal.” Any potentially privileged material was also first reviewed by a “filter team” of government lawyers who did not work on the case.

Combs has been in custody since his arrest in September He is accused of coercing and abusing women for years with the help of a network of relations and employees. An indictment accuses him of silencing victims through blackmail and violence, including kidnapping, arson and physical abuse.
