CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Michigan State senior wide receiver Montorie Foster had a big performance in the Spartans’ loss to Illinois on Saturday.
Unfortunately for him and the Spartans, Foster’s team-high 76 yards on six receptions was a losing effort, as Michigan State couldn’t pull off the upset, falling 38-16.
Foster and his teammates were quite disappointed with the loss. They had used their bye week to regroup and try to end their two-game win streak, but instead the streak was extended to three games. Now the Spartans need to win to make a bowl game.
Foster spoke to the media after Saturday’s loss. You can check out some of his availability below:
Below is a transcript of Michigan State coach Jonathan Smith’s opening statement from his post-game press conference:
Smith: “Okay, let me first say, congratulations to Illinois. I played really well and executed well. They’re a good football team. I played some ball that’s tough to come back from and the way we executed that .A lot it comes down to, I think, the difference on third down, the quality of play they had, the lack of – I’m staring at a number of 2 out of 15. That’s the difference in the game I think. I’ll give them some credit for that too their punt returners. We knew that guy was a good player in this thing, but we let a few of them get to us, and that hidden distance I think was the difference in the game too Done some things in a short week, we have to do better, and we still have a lot to play with two. But we have a disappointed group in that locker room right now.”
