Kalamazoo man found guilty of administering fentanyl, causing fatal overdose

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A Kalamazoo man was found guilty of supplying fentanyl that resulted in a fatal overdose in late 2022.

Antjuan Pierre Jackson, 39, was convicted of distribution of fentanyl causing death and possession of at least 40 grams of fentanyl with intent to distribute, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office – Western District of Michigan (DOJ).

Federal attorneys say the victim died of a fentanyl overdose on November 23, 2022, after Jackson sold them the deadly narcotic. Several weeks later, more than 80 grams of fentanyl were found in Jackson’s home, along with evidence of drug trafficking.

Kalamazoo man charged with distributing fentanyl resulting in death

“Illegal street drugs are claiming more lives in Michigan and the United States than ever before,” said U.S. Attorney Mark Totten. “Just a little bit of fentanyl can be fatal. And because drug suppliers mix fentanyl into almost every illegal drug, users may not even realize they are taking a lethal dose of fentanyl, killing them in minutes. My office is committed to disrupting the pipelines that spread these poisons into our communities.”

Jackson is expected to be sentenced on February 27, 2025.
