DDG defends Halle Bailey after son Halo appeared on livestream

DDG comes to ex-girlfriend Halle Bailey‘s defense after she publicly called him out for allowing their 9-month-old son, Haloto appear on a livestream without her knowledge.

In one YouTube video published on Thursday, November 7, the influencer and rapper (real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) explained that he will not stand for anyone to Little mermaid actress, 24, after doing his own part in the past.

“One thing I don’t like what people do is I don’t like it when people hate Halle,” DDG, 27, said of his ex. “I don’t care if people think she’s wrong or not, or if I think she’s wrong or right.”

The Moonwalking in Calabasas rapper added, “She might be going through something mentally after having a child that I as a man can’t understand.”

“So when situations like this arise, I try to handle them with as much grace as possible because Halo needs her, I need her, we need each other to create a childhood that is safe, fun and memorable for him,” he said.

The “ARGUMENTS” artist went on to call his son “the biggest blessing” in his life, adding that he doesn’t “remember what life was like” before their baby was born.

“And I wouldn’t have him without Halle, and for that reason alone I gained unconditional love and respect for her,” he said.

DDG’s response came just one day after Bailey said: “extremely upset” that Halo was included in Kai Cenat’s Twitch stream “Mafiathon 2” on November 6.

“I was not told or notified and I am extremely upset that I had my baby in front of millions of people,” the Color Purple actress wrote on X. “I am his mother and protector and I am saddened that I was not notified, especially when I am out of town.”

Before DDG published its video Thursday, Bailey expanded on her previous statement: she may have overreacted.

“I know Halo is always safe with his father. I just don’t like sharing with the rest of the world what my baby is doing. thanks kai for the gifts for halo, ‘Bailey tweeted.

In his response, DDG reminded viewers that the former couple was “going through a very different transition.”

“It’s hard for us,” he added of their breakup. “So when things like this happen, it’s really nothing. People experience things like this all the time. I just don’t appreciate it when people try to turn me against her, or me against her, and all this, “She’s wrong and he’s right, blah blah blah.” You can all hate me all you want, but leave Halle alone, man.”

A DDG representative did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Thursday.
