KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A church door is boarded up and in need of repairs.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a church warden found the damaged door last Wednesday

Sherry Williamson, a member of the church, said they focus on the act of forgiveness.

“You’re running into… the disrespect for the house of the Lord… but you know we’re praying for that soul, and we’re praying for him… It’s just damage, and we’ll fix it. It’s just part of the world these days,” Sherry said.

Others in the community, like Russell Williamson, are also willing to forgive.

“Whoever did this had nothing to gain from it, but when we saw who it was, we literally prayed as a church and individually for this man because God forgave us. You know, and like I said, we love him… we’ve all come a long way, we all have a closet, we don’t have to go back in it,” Russell said.

Russell said there are plans for repairs.

“We already had an estimate… they measured, they ordered glass, today… a friend of mine’s sister donated them to our church before, they don’t go to our church, but she got my called a friend, and she came and said she wanted to make a donation to replace the door, and that’s another blessing,” Russell said.
