Man shot dead near busy downtown block in Prince George, B.C., police say

For the second time in as many weeks, RCMP are investigating a suspicious death along Victoria Street in Prince George, BC

Just before midnight on Nov. 6, police were called to the 1500 block of Victoria Street, a busy downtown intersection near several stores and businesses.

RCMP said one person was shot and killed around 11:45 p.m. PT in what appeared to be a targeted attack.

The shooting took place on an empty lot across the street from the Victoria Medical Building, and near the Connaught Youth Center and the former North Star Inn, which was recently purchased by the province for use as supportive housing.

RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Cooper says police are looking for one suspect and want to speak to anyone who was in the area between 11:35 and 11:50 p.m.

It is at least the sixth suspicious death in Prince George in 2024.

The investigation starts just over a week after the police 61-year-old man died in a house a few blocks away. Two people have been arrested in the investigation into that death.
