SANTA ROSA COUNTY, FL (WALA) – The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office reports it is seeking the public’s help in identifying a victim of an attempted carjacking.
Officials say it happened at Circle K at 5661 Quintette Road in Pace around 8:40 p.m.
The SRSO said emergency crews responded to the area after receiving a report of a two-vehicle collision with injuries. While en route, the sheriff’s office was told that one of the occupants had gotten out of a vehicle and was walking around armed with a tire iron, the sheriff’s office said.
Officials said that upon arriving at the scene, officers told the suspect – identified as Brian Joseph Stacken – to drop the object, but he ignored their commands and fled to the nearby Circle K. In the parking lot, Stacken attempted to gain access to a According to investigators, he moved to an unoccupied car before moving to an occupied moving vehicle.
They said he tried to jump through the passenger window.
Because the suspect was armed, the victim was told to drive away to prevent the suspect from entering, the sheriff’s office said. According to the SO, officers used non-lethal force and took him into custody.
Stacken was transported to a medical center for evaluation and then transported to the Santa Rosa Detention Facility. He is charged with two charges of aggravated assault on specific personnel, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent, burglary (armed) and resisting arrest without violence.
Officials say they are asking the victim in the occupied car to come forward, allowing further charges against the suspect.
The victim’s car is described as black or dark blue and is a 2015/16 Volkswagen Jetta. The vehicle has a light-colored graphic on the right rear passenger window and a similar graphic around the fuel filler cap.
