Barry Keoghan backtracks on accusations that he is an ‘abuse father’.

In the Tuesday, November 5 episode of The Louis Theroux Podcastthe Salt burn actor, 32, opened up about the criticism he received online as a father to son Brando2, which he shares with ex Alyson Sandro. While the proud father previously enjoyed sharing his son online, he decided to stop when his life became more public and accusations about his parenting began.

“There’s a lot online. If I didn’t have the tough skin or the strength, I wouldn’t be here,” Keoghan explained. “Of course it will affect me as a father, when I had no blueprint to draw from. People just read that as laziness and say, ‘Oh, that’s no excuse for being an absentee father.’”

“I’m not an absent father,” he emphasized.

He continued, “People like to use my son as ammunition or whatever and it makes me want to stop posting about him. The more attention I’ve gotten lately and the more public I’ve become, the less I’ve posted about my child because I don’t think it’s fair to put my child online.”

“Because I had that in my hand, people are pulling a story and saying, ‘Absent father, s—, worthless father,’ and other disgusting things that I wouldn’t even repeat. Just the audacity of some people, man , it makes me sick It makes me furious.”

He added that “these people have no indication” of what he is like as a father, and “I’m not going to give them any more material… they don’t deserve that.”

Although he doesn’t post his son Keoghan often shared a sweet selfie with Brando in August. The father-of-one posed next to the 2-year-old as the little boy played with toys on a table.

Although Brando has strawberry blonde hair that is lighter than his father’s, he is a mini version of the Irish actor. The pair share the same bright blue eyes and rosy cheeks.

Keoghan gave insight into his son’s personality in the caption, and it seems the duo have some irresistible qualities in common.

“He’s more of a charmer than me. Our little Brando ꠁԠԠԠԠڠ,” said the Bird actor captioned the photo.
