“Should I talk to the neighbor or the landlord?” the tenant wondered.

The photos showed scenes of trash left around the entrance and a bag of dog feces left on the sidewalk for more than two weeks.

Messy neighbors can certainly detract from the quality of life in an apartment environment. Meanwhile, some tenants have also experienced problems with apartment complexes lying about recycling practices.

To solve waste problems as a tenant, you may need to talk to your landlord or property management company to find a solution. For example, more accessible waste containers and recycling trash bins or better signage in the community may be all that is needed to encourage residents to live responsibly and take reasonable care of their personal waste.
