Local voter turnout amounts to 32% | News, sports, jobs

ESCANABA – Delta County election turnout reached 32.7% on Friday.

According to the Michigan Voting Dashboard, 6,638 absentee ballots had been returned as of Friday afternoon. Another 2,669 ballots were cast at the Delta County early voting center, located in the Wells Township Hall.

In Menominee County, turnout was 28.4% on Friday, with 3,702 returned ballots and 1,183 early voting ballots. Schoolcraft County has seen similar returns, with an overall turnout of 29.4%. A total of 4,959 absentee ballots were returned in Schoolcraft County and 1,998 voters participated in early voting as of Friday.

Statewide, turnout was 35.5%, with 1,843,060 returned ballots and 736,894 early voters.
