In a recent conversation with Joe Rogan: J.D. Vancethe Republican vice presidential candidate, expressed outrage and confusion over the shooting iincident that occurred during Donald Trump’s campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania. Vance shared his immediate reaction when he saw footage of the shooting, fearing for the former president’s life.
A father’s instincts: Prioritizing family safety
“I actually thought they killed him because when you first see the video, he grabs his ear and then he goes down. And I’m like, oh my God, they just killed him,’ Vance said. He described how he went into “fight or flight” mode in the aftermath, prioritizing the safety of his children while they were at a miniature golf course in Cincinnati at the time. Vance said he rushed home, armed himself and stood guard at his front door, illustrating the effect the incident had on him.
Vance’s surprise
Vance expressed his surprise Trump‘s survival after being shot, describing it as a “real miracle” that he is still alive. He asked critical questions about how the shooter was able to get so close to the target and what security measures were taken during the event.
‘It’s shocking that he’s still alive. Yes. That’s true. I mean, I’m a religious person, but I think it’s a real miracle that guy didn’t kill him. But how did he get so close? There are a lot of really big questions we should be asking,” said Vance.
Concerns about safety and police response
In their conversation, Rogan pointed out that the shooter had been seen roaming the area with a rangefinder prior to the incident, leading to a chaotic scene in which bystanders reportedly shouted warnings to police about a man with a gun. “People were screaming and saying, this guy has a gun. He’s on the roof Go get him. And no one responded to it. And the whole thing seems very strange to me. And I hope we win and then get to the bottom of it,” noted Vance, who expressed skepticism about the law enforcement response.
Technical discussion on firearm accuracy
The conversation delved into the details of the shooting Vance and Rogan discusses the technical aspects of firearms and the unlikelihood of grazing a target from a distance of 400 feet. “To anyone who thinks this was staged, you don’t understand shooting. There’s no way you can graze someone’s ear from 400 feet away,” Vance emphasized, rejecting theories that suggested intent.
Lack of transparency after the incident
Vance was concerned about the lack of transparency after the incident. He emphasized that the shooter was cremated within 10 days and questioned the lack of a press conference or toxicology report, noting that similar cases involving school shooters typically result in quick release of information, including manifestos.
Speculation about motives and calls for investigation
Vance stated, “And then that guy died instantly. And then they grab his body. He is cremated 10 days later. There is no press conference. There is no toxicology report. No one talks about it on the news.”
“We don’t know anything about the motive here, which I think is the craziest part,” Vance further said, speculating that the shooter‘s hatred for Donald Trump could be a primary motive, but asserted that deeper investigation into the shooter’s background and intentions was warranted.
