A study reported on Statistical looked at hypertension levels across America for 2023, and the results are in for New Jersey.
The level of hypertension in New Jersey
You may be surprised to learn that even though we see stress throughout the Garden State, our hypertension levels are relatively average.
This is the definition of hypertension, according to Merriam-Webster,

: abnormally high blood pressure and especially arterial blood pressure

: the systemic condition associated with high blood pressure
So we’re talking about high blood pressure, and with all the rushing, traffic, congestion, financial pressures, and workloads in New Jersey, you’d think we’d be at the top of the list.

However, the statistics do not support that. In 2023, the proportion of adults with hypertension in New Jersey was 34.4%.

That may seem like a high number, but it only puts us at number 25 on the list of states with the highest percentage of people with hypertension.

By comparison, the state with the highest level is Mississippi, at a whopping 46.8%.

The state with the best news in this survey was Colorado. Only 27.5% of residents there have hypertension.
