Amazon MGM Studios has launched “American Speed,” a package starring Tom Holland and Austin Butler as race car-driving brothers.

Dan Wiedenhaupt (“Alpha”) is writing the script, which is based on the true story of the Whittington brothers – three historically famous racing drivers, two of whom were part of the 1980s IMSA scandal in which a number of drivers were accused finance their racing activities with proceeds from drug smuggling, money laundering or tax evasion.
Roven also serves as producer on the sci-fi thriller “Mercy,” starring Chris Pratt, which Amazon MGM Studios releases in theaters worldwide on August 15, 2025.
Holland last appeared in the 2023 thriller miniseries ‘The Crowded Room’ alongside Emmy Rossum and Amanda Seyfried, and played Romeo in ‘Romeo & Juliet’ on the West End earlier this year. He will next reprise his role as Peter Parker in the fourth ‘Spider-Man’ film, and helm Christopher Nolan’s next film.
This year, Butler appeared alongside Tom Hardy in ‘The Bikeriders’ and played the role of Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in ‘Dune: Part Two’. He will next star in Ari Aster’s ‘Eddington’ and Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Caught Stealing’.
Tom Holland is repped by WME, Shelter PR and Sloane Offer. Austin Butler is repped by WME, Anonymous Content, Sloane Offer and The Lede Company. Dan Wiedenhaupt is repped by WME, Adam Kolbrenner at Lit Entertainment Group and attorney Jeff Frankel. Charles Roven is represented by WME and attorney Michael Schenkman.
