Canva’s valuation rose to billion after the April sale

Partners at Australia’s three largest venture capital firms say Canva is benefiting from increasing international interest in Australian tech companies after the design software giant increased its valuation by almost 20 percent following a share sale.

Canva said on Thursday its valuation rose by US$6 billion ($9.1 billion) to US$32 billion after an undisclosed number of shares changed hands, the first major transaction since investors and employees were allowed to sell shares in April. Canva is the largest of the country’s privately held technology companies and is widely considered a bellwether for the local startup sector.
