Oasis have confirmed that Britpop group Cast will join them on their reunion tour of Britain and Ireland in 2025.
News of Cast’s involvement in the upcoming tour comes after The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft was officially announced as main support act last week. Both artists will perform on all dates, which start in July at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff and end in September at Wembley Stadium in London.
In a statement, Cast’s John Power shared: “I’m overwhelmed by the reunion. Oasis are the voice of a generation and the songs they wrote and sang were and still are the soundtrack to many people’s dreams. They are the bond of the people.”
Power also reflected on his friendship with the Gallagher brothers, saying: “I’ve known Noel and Liam over the years, we go way back. It’s been a ride, a journey. I have felt and known their music personally, as a fan. It inspired me as a songwriter, it blew the whole scene open like never before and reached far beyond the stratosphere.”
The Liverpudlian then discussed the seismic impact of Oasis, adding: “Everything changed. We were all part of that and we will all be part of it. I’m especially looking forward to revisiting my family’s Irish roots when the tour comes to Dublin. Let the opening chords sparkle and shine next July.
Notably, earlier this year Cast supported Liam Gallagher on tour as he celebrated the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ landmark debut album, Definitely maybe.
In addition, Power was formerly a member of The La’s, whom both Gallagher brothers have cited as a source of inspiration.
Noël once told me Definitely radio: “He (Lee Mavers) only made one album, but if you’re only going to make one album in your life, make that album. He’s a great songwriter, you lazy idiots, but we’ll put that aside. The La’s are one of my favorite bands and still are.”
Meanwhile, on being announced to support Oasis, Ashcroft said: “As a fan from day one, I was excited for many reasons when the news of Oasis’ return was announced. I can say without exaggeration that the songwriting talent of Noel and Liam’s pure mind as lead singer has helped me create some of my best work.
The former Verve leader, who famously inspired the Oasis song ‘Cast No Shadow’, continued: “It was the perfection of ‘Live Forever’ that forced me to try writing my own song. They dared to be great, made the dreams we had come true and I will always remember those days with joy. Now it’s time to create more memories and I’m ready to deliver. See you next summer. Music is power.”
Following Ashcroft’s announcement, Liam turned to young bands and not having them supported, there are LEVELS in this game and I’m afraid 99 of you are way off.
Oasis have yet to reveal who will join them on the Australian line-up, but have confirmed Cage The Elephant as support act for their North American tour.
