Cochise County Supervisor Judd pleads guilty in election interference case

On Monday morning, Cochise County Supervisor Peggy Judd pleaded guilty to one count of failure or refusal to perform duties by an election official, a Class 3 misdemeanor.

Judd, along with fellow supervisor Tom Crosby, were originally charged with a crime for refusing to certify the results of the midterm elections.

Judd will be sentenced to unsupervised probation for a period of not less than 90 days. She will also have to pay a maximum fine of $500, according to a press release from the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

“Any attempt to interfere with Arizona elections will not be tolerated,” Attorney General Mayes said in a press release. “My office will continue to pursue justice and ensure that anyone who challenges our electoral system is held accountable. Today’s settlement and verdict should serve as a strong reminder that I will not hesitate to use every tool at my disposal to uphold the rule of law and protect the integrity of Arizona’s elections.”
