By admin I consider myself a huge fan of Tim Burton’s work. I’ve seen almost all of his movies and TV projects, especially his best films. He is a director who has had a huge influence on me while developing a core following of television and cinema. That’s why some of his films are my favorites, but others I watched with a delay. Corpse bride this is the main one I’ve been procrastinating on watching.
It just never felt like the right time for it, and I often forget that there are still Tim Burton movies I’ve never seen. However, with the release Beetlejuice BeetlejuiceI’ve been going back and watching some of the Tim Burton movies that I love and others that I haven’t seen yet. That’s why I finally watched it Corpse Bride and I was not disappointed.
This seemed perfect too movie to watch on Max for Halloween. It got me into the spirit of the spooky season and gave me some surprising insight into the situation this fantasy classic. Supervising Corpse Bride, I realized that I had made incorrect assumptions about the plot, concepts, and artistic decisions.

The Corpse Bride has a more complicated love story than expected
Corpse bride follows Victor (Johnny Depp) as he decides to marry Victoria (Emily Watson), his future fiancée from an arranged marriage. However, Victor accidentally proposes to Emily, the Corpse Bride (Helena Bonham Carter). Victor and Victoria meet only once before their upcoming wedding, but their chemistry is immediately palpable. Prospective newlyweds go from fear of their upcoming wedding to excitement about it. The rapid-fire love story between Victoria and Victor and Emily’s desire for Victor make this romance complicated for all parties involved.
Emily falls in love with Victor, but he never forgets Victoria. He wants to marry her. She still wants to marry him too. Emily complicates things, but she doesn’t do it in a malicious way. Victor also plans to marry Emily out of a sense of duty. He cares about Corpse Bride, he just doesn’t love her.
Originally, due to promotional materials, I thought that Corpse bride was a story about a man in love with a corpse bride. I had no idea it was a love triangle. It’s not really a love triangle either, as Victor and Victoria clearly belong together. After all, they have the same name. Corpse bride it is a love story, but also a story about finding inner peace. Emily needs this to leave the world of the living. It’s a movie that has some meaning messages about mourningin this case, grief at the loss of what could have been life.
Despite being a corpse bride, Emily is not a villain. She does not force Victor to marry her and frees him from his sense of obligation. I really liked the not simple love story or triangle. He had more depth than expected.

I didn’t know it was a musical
I had no idea there was a musical element to it Corpse bride. The first singing scene surprised me, but I liked it. None of Corpse bride the songs were really impressive, but I appreciated the musical aspects. Additionally, the music for the film was created by Burton’s longtime collaborator, Danny Elfman Corpse bride. This immediately made the movie even better.
Burton is no stranger to musicals. Its adaptation Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street this is one of my favorite movies of his and one of Johnny Depp’s best performances in his filmsso I was delighted to sing Corpse bride because it reminded me of this movie. I wanted more songs and musical performances.
These in Corpse bride I feel like a preview of what could have been an even better movie with some original songs and performances. The few we did get were visually and musically pleasing.

Corpse Bride shows the evolution of Tim Burton’s stop-motion style
Burton did not direct The nightmare before Christmaswith that credit going to Henry Selick, but he helped develop the concept art and characters for the film. It’s easy to tell it’s Tim Burton’s work, but it looks different enough to feel refreshing and unique. World Corpse bride it feels like part of Burton’s universe, but it’s not a complete copy of all his other works.
I liked that it felt inspired by Burton’s work, but wasn’t exactly like all of his other stop-motion projects. It also made me want to watch more stop-motion films and TV shows of him to watch his style develop and change.

The murder plot reminds me of Coco
Big twist Corpse bride is that Barkis Bittern (Richard E. Grant) is Emily’s ex-fiancé and murderer, a conman. It immediately became obvious that he was planning to try to carry out the same fraud and crime on Victoria. I immediately thought of Pixar Coco. The films don’t look alike, but the seemingly trustworthy villain-in-disguise character reminded me of Ernesto de la Cruz (Benjamin Bratt), one of Pixar’s best villains.
Additionally, when the dead start interacting with their loved ones, I couldn’t help but think about their similarities Coco. The similarities are unintentional, but it’s fun to compare. I love Cocoso I really liked the character of a cunning man who will finally get his reward. Besides, I really like it Corpse bridescenes in which the dead (briefly) return to their loved ones.
This made the ending for Barkis that much sweeter as he joined the dead, only to be destroyed by them.

It’s much more sentimental than expected
Corpse bride has a lot of heart, especially when it comes to the thought of lost love. You couldn’t help but feel sorry for Emily. She was just a woman who fell for a scammer. Many of us have been there. Then Victor and Victoria were also very nice and sweet together. You can’t blame Victor for loving the person he loved.
It’s a really good romantic movie. Moreover, as said, the reunion of the deceased with their loved ones is also very sentimental. It makes you think about the deceased and think about the loss of love. Corpse bride it also ends on a somewhat bleak note, which adds to the emotional impact of the film.
Corpse bride I may not join the list of my favorite Tim Burton films, but I appreciated how different it was from my expectations. I’d love to watch it again.
