The mother of an NHS worker who died after a demoralizing sexual attack while lying unconscious on a park bench has said her family are “celebrating” her killer’s conviction.

Mohammed Iidow (35) was walking through Southall Park in west London looking for a woman to rape when he found 37-year-old Natalie Shotter unconscious in the early morning hours of July 17, 2021.

Mum-of-three Mrs Shotter suffered a heart attack after being “repeatedly orally raped”, the Old Bailey newspaper has heard.

Jurors cried after watching terrifying 15 minutes of CCTV footage of the attack.

Iidow, whose lawyer suggested Shotter might already be dead when he encountered her in the park, was found guilty Friday of manslaughter and rape.

Mrs Shotter’s mother, NHS cardiologist Dr Cas Shotter Weetman, said the family was celebrating Iidow’s conviction.

She said: “We are delighted for her children and that we finally have justice for Nat after three and a half years,” adding that she was a “beautiful soul.”

The Serjeant Ordinary of London, Judge Richard Marks, KC, adjourned execution until December 14.

During the trial, Mrs. Morgan stated that Shotter died of a heart attack caused by Iidow, who “raped her repeatedly.”

Previously, CCTV footage was shown of Ms Shotter sitting on a bench with another man when the defendant walked past and looked at them.

“What was the defendant doing there, what was he trying to do, walking along the paths in the middle of the night and thinking about what his goal must have been – finding a defenseless woman he could rape,” Morgan said.

Iidow then left the park and drove away in his car before returning.

Ms Shotter lay there “not moving” for about half an hour before the defendant approached her “nonchalantly”, Ms Morgan added.

She added that the victim was “deeply unconscious” during the attack.

Further CCTV footage showed the defendant moving Ms Shotter’s body in various positions as he raped her.

Ms Morgan said: “That evening and the consummation of what she did made her vulnerable, vulnerable to men, vulnerable to the defendant, but it didn’t kill her.”

The defendant then drove back to his home in Hounslow, west London, passing a Shell garage where he stopped to buy cat food and mouthwash.

Ms. Shotter was found dead by a passerby in the park in the early morning hours of July 17, 2021.

Swabs taken from around the mouth matched DNA samples taken from the accused.

Iidow was arrested at his home on August 4, 2021, and during a police interview stated that the sexual activity was consensual.

Iidow’s attorneys, however, argued that Lidow may not have been the cause of death or that Ms. Shotter was dead before he met her.

Defense lawyer Peter Glenser, KC, told the jury: “There is no evidence that Ms Shotter moved after 11.41pm, the possibility that she is dead cannot be ruled out.”

Ms Morgan rejected any suggestion that Ms Shotter was already dead before she was attacked by Iidow.

She told jurors: “The prosecution argues that Natalie died as a result of what the defendant did to her.

“She was not dead at the time the accused orally raped her, that needs to be considered – whether this accused went to the park for a reason.

“He wouldn’t try to have sex with a dead body for more than 15 minutes. He had sex with someone he knew was alive, but he was deeply unconscious and so he raped her.”

Iidow denied the allegations against him but refused to testify.
