I first visited Silver Dollar City a few years ago and I completely understand why USA Today named it the best theme park. It’s an amazing place. This is a place for roller coaster fans, with many amazing rides, but also has great food and amazing decor. And now SDC is getting even better, as it will soon become a true amusement park resort, with the Silver Dollar City Hotel coming in 2026
Silver Dollar City becomes a real resort with an amusement park
Already in 2021, Silver Dollar City purchased 800 acres of undeveloped land next to the park. Another resort plan fell through and the park moved in and took over the land. Since then, fans have been wondering what he would do with the space.
Silver Dollar City has officially announced Silver Dollar City Resort, a 262-guestroom hotel that will provide easy access to the theme park. There will also be a full-service restaurant on site, and considering SDC offers some of the best theme park food, expectations will be high for a meal at the property’s full-service restaurant.
Needless to say, this is great news. When I visited the city, it was clear that one of the things Silver Dollar City needed most was a hotel. The park is located in the beautiful Ozark Mountains, providing some of the most amazing views of any theme park in the world. The downside is that there are no hotels particularly close.
The resort will make Silver Dollar City a true destination.
Even more are on the way to one of America’s best theme parks
The resort is part of a half-billion-dollar investment in Silver Dollar City over the next decade that will include the development of more than 1,200 acres of land. The most recent addition to the park was a ground-up version of Fire in the Hole, the park’s iconic roller coaster.
While only the resort itself has been officially announced, it’s clear that much more is planned over the next decade as part of the major investment in Silver Dollar City. We can almost certainly expect a significant expansion of the theme park, which will likely include a roller coaster or two. All this will make this place even more of a must-see amusement park.
The opening of Silver Dollar City Resort is planned for the end of 2026.
