Teen rescued after shocking kidnapping incident in DC

Washington, DC – An armed kidnapping in Northwest DC prompted the Metropolitan Police Department to seek the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

On September 26, 2024, at approximately 10:24 p.m., Fourth Precinct officers responded to reports of a fight occurring in the 1300 block of Longfellow St NW. Upon arrival, officers found a black SUV and a gray sedan parked in the street with the doors open and containing at least three suspects.

As officers approached the vehicles, both suspects fled the scene and the SUV struck several cars, including a marked MPD cruiser. During the investigation, it was reported that the teenager was forcibly taken into one of the fleeing vehicles, prompting authorities to activate an AMBER alert.

Later, around 1:10 p.m., MPD detectives and federal law enforcement officers observed the kidnapped teenager and a masked man leaving a residence in the 700 block of 31st Street, Southeast. They got into a car and fled, leading to a pursuit that ended in a minor traffic collision at 4200 Southern Avenue, Southeast. The male driver fled on foot, but officers confirmed the teenager was unharmed and unharmed; as a precaution, she was taken to hospital.
