Eight people rescued in southeast Charlotte Two-alarm residential fire: CFD

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – The Charlotte Fire Department said Wednesday morning that eight people were rescued, including four who were taken to the hospital, after an overnight residential fire in southeast Charlotte.

Crews responded to calls about an incident around 3 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at a residence near 7200 Wallace Road in southeast Charlotte.

The two-alarm fire was brought under control within 50 minutes by 60 firefighters.

CFD said eight people were rescued and four patients were transported to local medical centers for evaluation. The doctor confirmed that two people were transported with serious injuries and two others with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said the fire was started accidentally by “improper disposal of burning materials.” This resulted in an estimated loss of $80,000. CFD has had a busy few days responding three other large fires in the last 24 hours.
