A baby elephant has been reunited with its mother after falling into a gorge in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU – An elephant was reunited with its mother after it fell into a ravine on a property in Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia.

According to Sabah Wildlife Department director Roland Nuin, the calf was reunited with its mother shortly after being rescued.

A calf was separated from the herd after heavy rain. It was rescued by several property workers and wildlife wardens.

In a series of videos posted on TikTok in early October, men were seen helping an elephant out of a gorge. The calf was observed flapping its ears as it was supported from the ravine.

In videos that have since hit the internet, the calf appeared scared as it tried to charge at the estate workers.

“When it calmed down, the rangers took the calf from the area and took it to the forest where another group had previously spotted the female elephant.

“When the calf saw the female elephant, it cautiously approached her and the female came closer to sniff.

“After confirming that the calf was hers, the elephant took it with her and the calf happily left with it to the jungle,” he said when contacted.

“No one was injured and both elephants returned safely to the forest,” he added. STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
