KITCHEN, Ont. — A sentencing hearing continues Tuesday for a man who pleaded guilty to four charges in connection with the triple stabbing of a gender studies class at the University of Waterloo.

Geovanny Villalba-Aleman pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated assault and one count of assault occasioning bodily harm in the June 2023 attack.

Federal prosecutors say his crimes are terrorism-related.

The professor and two students who were stabbed told a court in Kitchener, Ont., on Monday that they remain scared and anxious, especially on campus.

The professor expressed concern that others might be inspired to commit similar acts of violence.

The hearing is expected to last several days this week.
