By admin A woman was rescued after she dropped her phone between two large boulders and later got stuck trying to pick it up. According to Nine News, the terrifying situation occurred in the Hunter Valley, a bushland in the New South Wales wine region.
The woman, trying to retrieve her phone from a rocky precipice, slipped and got stuck between boulders in a three-meter crevasse. Phone reception is limited in the region and friends tried to save her for over an hour. However, when they failed, they called Triple Zero for help.
Ambulances arrived and paramedics found her stuck in a crevice between heavy rocks. Another specialized team was called in to remove the stones. One of them weighed as much as 500 kg and was successfully dragged by experts to give it a safe place to escape.
The rescue was complicated because the woman got stuck in a sharp “S” turn. Photos shared by NSW Ambulance on Facebook only show her feet while she was wedged in the hole. Her shoes can be seen positioned above her.
New South Wales State Emergency Medical Services Specialist Peter Watts described the operation as “unlike any we have ever done before.”
“In 10 years of working as a paramedic, I have never encountered such work. It was demanding, but extremely satisfying,” he said.
“Each agency had a role and we all worked together extremely well to achieve a good outcome for the patient.”
The operation took a total of seven hours before the woman was safely rescued. However, she had to leave without her phone.
