By admin Hyderabad: The Friends of Snakes Society (FOS) rescued an eight-foot Indian rock python from Osmansagar Reservoir after descending from a height of 50 feet.
Dakarapu Vara Prasad, a member of FOS, received a distress call regarding a large snake that was stuck on the gate at the top of the dam. He immediately rushed to the site and spotted a snake wrapped around the dam gate below.
With the support of staff working at the reservoir, he climbed the rope to the dam and rescued the 20-kilogram reptile. The snake was taken to the Snake Rescue Center for care and subsequent relocation.
– said FOS Secretary General Avinash Visvanathan Chronicle of the Deccan on Monday that the snake will be moved to the forest, which will be away from human habitation within a few weeks.
“We will decide the final location after discussions with forest department officials,” he said. He thanked Prasad for saving the snake by climbing to a height of 50 feet and bringing it to safety by carrying it on his left hand.
Reservoir staff were the first to spot the snake and notified FOS, asking for its rescue.
