More than 30,000 police and paramilitary personnel will ensure peaceful assembly elections in Mumbai, with several squads deployed for compliance and security.
MUMBAI: Over 30,000 Mumbai police personnel, along with paramilitary forces and home guards, will be deployed across the city on Wednesday to ensure that the state assembly elections are conducted peacefully and no untoward incidents are reported.

The police have also constituted various teams such as video squads, nakabandi squads, surveillance squads and flying squads to ensure strict adherence to the model code of conduct.
“More than 25,000 police personnel, including five ACPs, 20 DCPs, 83 Assistant Commissioners, over 2,000 Inspector Cadre Officers and three platoons of Riot Control Police (RCP) have been deployed from Mumbai Police,” the Joint Commissioner of Police said. Satyanarayan Chaudhary.
Traffic police personnel, home guards and 26 platoons of Central Armed Forces (CAPF) and State Armed Forces (SAP) have also been deployed for election duties along with static surveillance teams and flying surveillance teams.
Police officers will also man polling booths to ensure that there is no scuffle between political party members.
The Mumbai Police has appealed to the public to cooperate with the police by following the rules imposed within a radius of 100 meters around polling booths. If citizens need any assistance, they can call the Brihanmumbai Police Commissioner’s helpline number or main control room at 100, 103 and 112.
