Now Stephen is trying to change that. He has a new one documentary, “Bogart: Life Comes in Flashes”, which aims to shed new light on the star “Casablanca”.

Although younger generations’ “lack of awareness” of classic Hollywood “regularly baffles him,” Stephen admitted he wasn’t surprised.
“…Kids don’t really know because it’s hard when you’re looking at your phone and you want to see the latest Marvel,” Stephen explained to Us Weekly. “Not that I have anything against Marvel. I used to collect comic books, but they don’t know the past at all.”
Stephen’s mother, who won two Tony Awards during her lifetime, starred in “How to Marry a Millionaire” next to Marilyn Monroeas well as ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ and ‘Sex and the Single Girl’, among others.

Bacall died in 2014. She was 89.

“She looked quite hot,” Stephen previously told Fox News Digital about what attracted the actress to his father.
“She was 19 and he was 44,” Stephen said. “But I think it was her strength. She was a strong woman. She didn’t take anything from anyone. He also thought she was very talented, but she could also keep up with him.’

The Detroit Free Press reported that Bacall remained at her husband’s bedside until the end. After he died, Bacall broke down “but broke out” to keep himself together.
Stephen said Bacall dealt with the loss by leaving California behind.
“A year later we were living in England,” Stephen said. “And then we moved to New York. I had a house with a pool in California. Life was pretty good. And then suddenly there was a big change for all of us. But I think eventually she started doing the things she wanted to do for herself. She always wanted to move back to New York because her mother lived there. And I think that was important to her. And she also studied theater.’

Bacall eventually remarried in 1961 to actor Jason Robards. That marriage lasted until 1969. Still, Stephen said his mother always talked about Bogart and his films.
“She talked about him all the time,” Stephen said. “It was almost like, ‘What would your dad think?’ or “Your father believed in treating people right.” And that’s what she wanted me to do. She wanted me to remember that he didn’t like lying. That was a big problem.”
After Bacall moved to New York in 1958, she decided settled in the famous Dakota Buildingwhich she called home until her death. And although she remained busy working into her 70s, Stephen said her final years were difficult.

“She liked to stay home. I don’t know how you feel when you get to that point, but… it wasn’t great for her. She was used to getting up and doing things, going out. She had assistants there.” But I think it’s been a very difficult time for her over the last few years.”
Has Stephen ever been tempted to continue the family business? Not a chance, he insisted.

“How can you compete with that?” said Stephen. “The comparisons would have been obvious. No, never. Plus, I was bad at it. I made a few plays in high school. I wasn’t very good. I couldn’t do it. It just wasn’t me.” Very good. It’s not easy being someone else.”
