I’m a celebrity… Get me out of here! saw fans “turn off” or “mute” their TVs just minutes after the second episode of the news series on Monday night. It comes as she was chosen by the public to undergo the ‘Vile Volcano’ trial.

She received a pep talk from fellow campmates before heading to Ant and Dec to start the challenge.

Explaining the Bushtucker Trial, Geordie duo presenters Ant and Dec revealed that deep within the volcano were a series of caves and tunnels in which she had to search to find hidden stars. Hidden in the depths were a number of creepy crawlies and rodents, including red ants, rats and GK’s biggest fear: spiders.

The social media influencer shouted and cursed as she took on the challenge, much to Ant and Dec’s delight. They joked, “We’re going to have to squeak a lot of this!”

While the presenters found the reaction from GK – whose real name is Grace Keeling – hilarious, fans at home found the screeching irritating. Some people admitted on social media that they had “muted” their TV to stop the sound.

Another said: “#ImACeleb I want to watch this trial on mute. I don’t want to miss Ant and Decs’ commentary,” while a third added: “Every five bloody seconds she screams. TV on mute #ImACeleb.”

However, other fans praised the star for her performance. One wrote: “Hats off to GK Barry as I wouldn’t have even gone there. #ImACeleb #imacelebrity.”

Someone else added: “Despite the shouting it was a brilliant test from GK Barry. Great effort. #ImACeleb #ImACelebrity.”

A third praised: “GK did a really great job, there have been worse celebs who would have said ‘Get me out of here’. It’s just the shouting that’s going to be annoying but there’s no need to put her through any more trials torture. #imacelebrity #ImACeleb.”

Overall, GK delivered an excellent performance during the trial. She managed an impressive nine out of ten stars for the camp, which meant she and her campmates would eat well.
