Paul W. Blauser, 42, of Allegheny Township, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 31, and charged with 28 felony counts of child pornography and one felony count of criminal use of a communications facility after state police accused him of downloading images depicting the sexual exploitation of children.
According to the police report, authorities received a tip that a local phone number and IP address was uploading child exploitation images to a cloud server operated by Synchronoss Technologies.
Police identified Blauser’s home as the location the account was connected to. On Aug. 21, a search was conducted at Blauser’s home, where he admitted using his phone to search for pornography online and that he had an interest in child pornography, court documents show.
A total of fourteen images of child sexual exploitation were found on Blauser’s phone. Another 14 were found in Blauser’s cloud account through a previous search warrant.
Blauser’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 19, before District Judge Lewis Stoughton. He was released on $100,000 unsecured bail.
