As people line up to cast their votes on Election Day, Anne Hathaway she encourages with a song.
The Oscar winner took to Instagram on Tuesday to encourage students — especially in Pennsylvania — to stay in line to vote, even if the lines are long. However, she did it to the tune of Sabrina Timmerman‘s hit ‘Please Please Please’.
“Hey everyone, I hear there are crazy long lines on college campuses, and oh my gosh, thank you for coming out to vote,” Hathaway said before donning a pair of sunglasses and singing her own rendition of the song. “And I just wanted to say if you’re on the line right now, please, please, stay on the line / Please, please, please, especially at UPenn and Temple, just bide your time / Voting is magical but also annoying / You been waiting so long, let’s not make it boring / Oh please, please, please hold the line.
The idea of you actress added in her caption, “Wow…I hear there are super long lines at colleges and universities everywhere, but especially in Pennsylvania. Please stay in line! … THE IMPORTANT: If you are in line before the polls close, stay in line even after closing time. The polling stations will remain open until everyone in that line has voted! These are your rights! Thank you voters!”
Hathaway is one of the celebrities reminding people to vote on Election Day. Fellow actor Paul Rudd also made a surprise visit to the voting lines of Temple University in Pennsylvania on Tuesday to hand out water.
As for Carpenter, she’s also been putting in the work leading up to Election Day. It was revealed that the singer has registered more voters than any other artist ahead of the 2024 presidential election on her Short n’ Sweet tour.
