According to Malaysian Tamilar Kural, a Penang-based NGO, the former residents were found abandoned outside the NGO’s office in Perai yesterday, November 5.
The head of the NGO, P. David Marshel, explains the matter in a video. shared that his team had found the former residents in a dilapidated warehouse in an oil palm plantation in Sungai Karangan, Kulim, Kedah.
The conditions they found were deeply troubling: several residents, including five mentally disabled individuals and a blind double amputee, were reportedly chained to their beds in the dilapidated facility.
“It is shocking to find five mentally disabled people and a blind double amputee among the very old and sick people just abandoned in a horrible warehouse in the middle of an oil palm plantation,” David said.
