Area residents will be able to enjoy a pint while raising money for the local humane community during the upcoming “Collect a Pint for Pets” campaign.

Starting Saturday and running through November 15, every pint of Fallout Ale purchased at ShinyTop Brewing will be matched with a $1 donation to the Near Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa.

The $1 donation will consist of 50 cents from Nestle Purina PetCare and 50 cents from Shiny Top Brewing.

According to the announcement by Nestle Purina PetCare, on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at ShinyTop Brewing at 520 Central Ave. There will be a special event kicking off the campaign. Activities will include live music from the Stadium Drive, tower games on the patio, giveaways, raffle prizes and the opportunity to adopt a pet from the humane society.

During this event, Stadium Drive will donate $1 to the Humane Society for every $5 CD sold. He will also donate $5 for every $20 of vinyl sold.

“This fundraiser with Purina and ShinyTop means a lot to our organization and will have a huge impact on our ability to care for animals in need and facilitate more adoptions.” Adella Anderson, acting director and operations manager of the Near Home Humane Society, said in a written statement.

“We look forward to this month-long fundraiser and continuing to work with organizations.” she said.

The Near Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa was founded in 1984 and is celebrating its 40th anniversary in the community. Its mission is to be a shelter for lost and unwanted animals in Fort Dodge and to educate the community about responsible pet ownership.

Over its forty years of operation, Near Home has facilitated the adoption of over 17,000 pets.

Nestle Purina Fort Dodge has supported Alarm Home since 2018, sponsoring a dog park, contributing to the annual Fur Ball fundraiser and donating funds to pay for a van used to transport animals to vet appointments and adoption events. The company’s employees got involved in volunteering at the shelter. They provided food and necessary supplies to the animals.

According to ShinyTop Brewing, Fallout Ale is a Marzen-style beer. It presents Munich malts with noble German hops to add a malty aroma to toasted bread or cake.

“We are excited to partner with Purina on the Near Home program.” – Nate McCubbin, owner of ShinyTop Brewing, said in a written statement. “ShinyTop is passionate about pets and we hope the community will come out with their pets to enjoy a cold pint and support a great cause.”

The Raise a Pint for Pets program was launched in 2017 in St. Louis, Missouri. It has evolved since then.

“Giving back to the community and animals is at the core of who we are, and the opportunity to partner with ShinyTop Brewing to benefit animals in need in Fort Dodge is what drives our team.” said Julie Doran, chief human resources coordinator at Nestle Purina PetCare in Fort Dodge.
