Fall brings with it all kinds of treats, from changing leaves to the comforting taste of pumpkin spice lattes. However, one tradition that is cherished by many is taking an autumn walk.

This provides the opportunity to marvel at the stunning transformation of tree colors and enjoy the crunch of fallen leaves under your feet.

Woodland walks can be particularly enchanting this season, and a recent survey found that a walk in the Peak District is one of the best this autumn.

Located on the eastern flank of the Peak District and around a 90-minute drive from Greater Manchester, Padley Gorge has been ranked as the fourth best woodland walk in Britain.

This fascinating route takes you past waterfalls, babbling streams and gnarled trees, creating a truly atmospheric experience.

What sets Padley Gorge apart is the ancient oak and birch forest, located in a deep valley. The Burbage Brook flows through it, crossed by wooden bridges and stepping stones, evoking scenes reminiscent of a fairy tale.

The walk was included in a list compiled by outdoor specialists from GO Outdoors. They analyzed Google reviews, Instagram posts and Google searches to identify Britain’s most important woodlands and forests, assigning each a ‘forest score’ out of 10, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Padley Gorge secured fourth place on the list, with 26,574 Instagram messages and 137,000 annual Google searches. The free run yielded a forest score of 8.12 out of 10, which placed him in a shared fourth place with Thetford Forest.

The New Forest in Hampshire tops the list with an impressive score of 9.94, thanks to its staggering number of Instagram posts: 1,119,935. Gloucestershire’s Forest of Dean secured second place with a score of 9.03, while Tollymore Forest in County Down took third place.
