Wolff, who has chronicled Trump’s life in several books, claimed the two were engaged in a competition over who could sleep with more women. The timeline we noted here is when Diana was married to the prince, now King Charles III, and was one of the most famous women in the world.

Wolff cited that she represented an unattainable “get” for Epstein and Trump, which only strengthened their interest.

“Diana and the royal family seemed to represent an ultimate ‘get’ for Epstein and Trump, and an ultimate competition,” Wolff explained. He suggested that both men, fueled by their “sex-obsessed” lifestyles, believed “they could sleep with any woman they wanted, including a princess.”

“At that time, Diana was the most famous woman in the world. There was no greater status symbol from 1980,” the author said

Wolff also shared audio of a 2017 interview in which Epstein described Trump’s dynamics in the White House. “His people are fighting each other,” Epstein reportedly said, “and then he (Trump) poisons the well outside.” The interview was conducted at a restaurant in Manhattan. Although Trump’s team has since claimed he has distanced himself from Epstein, Wolff painted a different picture of their early years, claiming they were close friends with a shared interest in wealth, status and women.

The author claims the men’s friendship began in the 1980s and involved competitive behavior, with Epstein reportedly noting that Trump lacked “scruple.” Wolff also claimed, “I think they saw themselves as the embodiment of this moment, which was about money, women and status,” adding, “We now see Epstein as the sexual monster.” But certainly, at least in Epstein’s words, he and Trump were brothers in arms in this regard.”

However, Trump publicly distanced himself from Epstein after allegations of sexual abuse emerged, stating in 2019 that he and Epstein had not spoken in 15 years and saying, “I’m not a fan.”

Trump’s team also refuted the claim, citing the author as trying to influence the upcoming election. “Michael Wolff is a disgraced writer who routinely makes up lies to sell fictional books because he clearly has no morals or ethics,” said Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign communications director.

“He waited until days before the election to issue outlandish false smears, all in an effort to engage in blatant election interference on behalf of Kamala Harris. He is a failed journalist who resorts to lying for attention.”
