Taste Test: Starbucks New ‘Wicked’ Inspired Drinks | Food & Drink

On October 21, Starbucks launched two new drinks inspired by Universal Pictures’ ‘Wicked’, which will hit theaters on November 22. These drinks are themed around the two main characters, Glinda and Elphaba, with their colors and flavors. reflects the unique qualities of each character. I decided to give them a try.

The first drink, “Glinda’s Pink Potion”, is inspired by Glinda’s character. It contains a Mango Dragonfruit Refresher, hand-shaken with coconut milk, ice and a scoop of freeze-dried dragonfruit. Topped with dairy-free strawberry cold foam and finished with a layer of colorful candy sprinkles, this drink showcases two shades of pink that perfectly match the flavor. Reflecting Glinda’s obsession with all things pink and her bubbly personality, I think Starbucks nailed this creation.

My first sip was mainly the delicious dairy-free strawberry cold foam, which was delicious. The cute color immediately caught my attention and it tasted like a smooth strawberry milkshake. Once I reached the mango-dragonfruit layer, I was pleasantly surprised by how well the flavors blended together. The drink was so easy to enjoy that I finished it in about five minutes. Overall it provided a smooth, not overly sweet experience, and the pretty colors added to the enjoyment.

The second drink, “Elphaba’s Cold Brew,” is inspired by Elphaba’s bold personality and signature green skin. This drink features Starbucks Cold Brew mixed with peppermint syrup and topped with non-dairy matcha cold foam and green candy sprinkles. At first glance, it looks like a typical dark-colored cold brew, enhanced by a pastel green foam on top.

Upon tasting, the first taste came from the tasty cold foam, which provided a smooth and sweet matcha experience. When the flavor of the peppermint cold brew emerged, the combination of flavors provided a unique contrast. While both elements were enjoyable individually, I’m not sure the blending would appeal to everyone. Overall, the drink serves as a fun representation of Elphaba’s character through its distinctive flavors.
